Happy Easter!  I have gained so much from my lent attitude/gratitude adjustment. That will have to come on another post...Here are a few pics from today :-)

March 30, 2013

We had another fun visit from our friends the Tidmores....it is so wonderful to get visits from them, but it makes it harder to say goodbye each time!  We had a fun night of playing outside, eating pizza and going to Easter service at church.

March 29, 2013

I've been meaning to dig out my favorite set of books for Elizabeth for a long time, but can't seem to remember while at my parents, until now.    I have such wonderful memories of reading these--I've read them many many times.  THEN there's the TV show...I've watched every episode as many times as it came on.
How could this not bring back nostalgia??

Michael Landon's death was DEVASTATING!  Pa should live forever!  There was something about those stories that captured my imagination and interest and had me realize that YES!,  I wanted to live in one room with my whole family, and have a corncob doll all my own--wear a calico bonnet and walk to school, play a fiddle at night and sleep in a loft with my sister. These stories now have much deeper meanings for me- they represent what we all really want: courage and perseverance to keep trying when faced with hard and desperate times; the desire to have an adventure and to find it in everyday life, a hope that something better is just around the corner---but if it isn't, the relief and peace knowing that we have all we really need right within our family.
ANYWAYS!   Here are my books....I can't wait to start reading them with E.  She'll want to read them by herself, but I'm going to make her share!  There are so many valuable lessons in those pages....

First and last field trip of the year with Elizabeth for me...and where better to, than the zoo!?  The girls were so cute and fun together---both acted like I wasn't even there.

Saturday night we had our BFFs spend the night...it was a short but great visit. The kids had SO much fun sleeping together on the floor :-)

well, except when they were fighting.....

March 23, 2013

So Saturday afternoon, the kids are playing outside. Both are very good about staying within the boundaries we have in the yard/street for playing outside. welll.....E came blazing inside in a panic because she said "Jack is running away!"  so I ran outside to find this....
crruising down the street with his batman lunchbox.
"JACKSON SMITH!  WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING??!!"
"I'm just going to Nana's mommy!  you can stay home"

no shoes....just an empty lunchbox

he rode allll the way to her house..and she wasn't even home. Nice try, Jackson.

I know that I have posted about this before, but it can't compare to the amount of times it goes through my head....My kids (much more jack than E) are addicted to screens. TV, movie, computer, phone, etc.  I know I am 100% to blame---I love my phone computer and TV as they do.  I think it's just hard b/c I never had any of those things growing up, so I feel like they are inappropriate in such large doses for them.   Walking by the bathroom, I peeked in to check on what was taking so long and this is what I see....SERIOUSLY!  Is that necessary??   I need help with an intervention. Any ideas?

March 21, 2013

Just knowing that Nana is out of town makes my kids act like they haven't seen her in years....Jack woke up thinking that today was FOR SURE a Nana day (tue/thur during school).  He has been mad about it all day.  E wrote this this morning....I love that she gave a 'ck' to Blake and just a 'k' for Becky. Precious girl.....

Nana (with her giant bald spot) is holding a butterfly and flower...while Grampa has a football and basketball.  Love.it.

Day 3 of spring break:  not QUITE as exciting....but I have a much cleaner, organized fridge, and a closet with a LOT fewer clothes (please do not comment on seeing me in the same outfits repeatedly) and we now have...thanks to Nana...a cute little egg tree in our front yard :-)

Soccer Saturday!  E is playing a lot better her 2nd season....She loves her coach and is having lots of fun.  Jack keeps himself entertained on the picnic tables with Spidey and snacks.
